Family Car Rental Fuerteventura Airport

If you are looking for a family holiday then one of the destinations which is close to the top of many family wish lists is Fuerteventura. It truly is a fantastic location where there is something to do for everyone.

Finding a suitable car rental for a family takes a little bit of thought and perhaps planning. You know yourself what you need and what you would be happy with but working out what everyone else needs is not quite so easy. Everyone has their hangups and we all have certain family members that can be a little more difficult to deal with than others.

You may find that a people carrier hire is your best option. It offers not only great comfort for everyone traveling but also ample room for luggage and other equipment. If you feel that one of these vehicles would be too big then you could search under one of the other categories such as “full” or “estate” or better still, just search “all”.

Making everyone happy is a tough job but hey, someones got to do it 😉

Costa Calma

It took a while for the merits of Costa Calma to be widely recognised by the tourist community. Its roughly an eighty kilometre drive from the airport and boasts some incredible beaches. It was around the mid eighties when visitors started to flock to this part of the island.

The completion of the road between Puerto del Rosario to Morro Jable really opened up the gates to tourism however the area had its first hotel constructed in the late seventies. Costa Calma now offers a multitude of accommodation options as well as great bars and restaurants. Its another part where you will find plenty of German being spoken among the vacationers.

Its a really lovely drive to take in your hire car from the airport, topped off by the main road where you can see fabulous palm trees and pines lining your entry. Playa Barca is the main beach and offers great facilities whatever your choice be it windsurfing or a quiet bit of sunbathing.

Mietwagen/Autovermietung Flughafen Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura is extremely popular with Germans as a holiday destination. Jandia in the south is very popular and you can expect to see plenty of written German words in certain bars and restaurants. On some occasions this may even extend to car hire where you will see the words “Mietwagen” or “Autovermietung” used by some companies to make it easier for German visitors.

Whatever the language, a rental car will always be the same so if you need a good value vehicle to get around the island then look no further than our cost comparison search form. There are quite a few rental firms in Fuerteventura so instead of getting individual quotes, you can just pick from our selection which will show you all the current available offers. It really is that simple!

Fuerteventura Bike Rental

Biking in Fuerteventura is a fun activity which is also great for keeping you in shape while holiday temptations loom large. There are quite a few companies who organise groups which are great as these are the guys who know the terrain well and will have everything planned down to a tee.

One of the main biking companies on the island is called Easy Riders. They provide all types of bikes for both adults and children, suitable for all sorts of terrain. Enjoy the ride as they take you around all the finest routes the island has to offer. Their sightbiking tours go further afield to locations such as Villaverde and Lobos. You don’t have to go on a tour of course, just rent a bike and make your own way if you wish.

Volcano bikes are another company you could consider. They have been around for a long time now and have built up a good name for themselves. Again they provide a variety of bikes and tours similar to Easy Riders.

Stand up Paddle Boarding

The sport of stand up paddle boarding continues to be a popular option in Fuerteventura. It originated in Hawaii back in the sixties as a training technique for surfing. Since then its has grown as a sport in its own right due in no small part to the fact that’s its easier for people to get used to with a small learning curve.

You also don’t need to be waiting for a day when the waves are good as even on a calm day you can get on your board. You just go along at whatever speed you wish taking in all the fabulous surroundings. There are a couple of school options available if you feel in need of an introduction to stand up paddle boarding.

The Flag Beach SUP Center have been providing courses for the last three years and provide an excellent choice of boards for students. The more experienced surfers are just as well catered for as the novices. Day trips to Lobos Island are also available for those of a certain skill level.

Spur of the Moment Car Hire

Many of us have so many day to day responsibilities that the opportunity to do something in the spur of the moment rarely occurs. If you do find yourself with some unexpected free time though why not take advantage of it? and book some time away.

There are often some great deals to be found this way. Take our car hire at Fuerteventura Airport service for instance. So you decided right I’m getting away this weekend and I’m gonna book everything today. When you search for a quote for pickup on April 20th and return on April 22nd there are cars as cheap as £27.49

How cheap is that! At the time of writing there are one hundred and seventeen cars available for these dates with a large amount of them available for under fifty pounds.

With so much variety on offer you are sure to find the car you want at the right price. It can be easy to convince yourself that no, it will be too expensive or its too short notice but you never know until you check whats available.

Not one of the places you hear much about, Cofete is a secluded part of the island with only dirt tracks leading to it. This of course makes it not particularly easy to get to. Remember to pack plenty of food and refreshments as shops are limited or even non existent is some parts.

A fun site worth checking out when in this direction is the house – villa winter. The land that the house lays on is in the shape of Fuerteventura itself while the actual location of the house corresponds to its island location. The village of Cofete is very quiet indeed with many people owning holiday property in the area which is generally out of use during the week.

You will find a few residents living in the area and the bar in the town is worth a visit. I guess its always nice to get off the beaten track now and again.

You will find the village of Tindaya located at the bottom of its namesake mountain. Its past is steeped in religious history which is shown today by the numerous carvings existing around the area which were actually only uncovered 35 years ago.  Locals believed the carvings helped keep the village safe from demons.

At the top of the mountain there are wonderful views to behold such as the Teide Volcano which is in Tenerife. You will notice that many carvings are faced in this direction as locals believed the volcano to be an evil spirit. Some of the rock from the mountain has been used for display at Fuerteventura Airport.

Goat farming has been a traditional source of income throughout the regions history. A recent project by sculptor Eduardo Chillida involves hollowing out a cube shape within the mountain. As well as this there are plans for a public park which would of course help attract more visitors. The project has not proved so popular with ecologists and environmental groups.

Surfing in Fuerteventura

Previously we wrote here about windsurfing in Fuerteventura so you probably wont be surprised to hear that surfing is also a popular pursuit. The best time of year without a doubt for surfing is late Autumn and Winter as that’s when the big waves really hit.

The best spots on the island tend to be in the north with plenty of options for pros as well as novices. There is usually lots of space and many “unridden spots” however surfers are warned to be aware of the unpredictable winds.

The North Track is where you will find many favoured surf spots. It goes from Corralejo to El Cotillo (lighthouse) and would take about an hour in your Fuerteventura Airport car hire. Beware that the surface becomes difficult once you go past Majanicho so its not great for small vehicles.

Keep in mind that you should bring food with you as the further you go on this trail, the less shops you will see. There are also a few surf schools on the island that are worth checking out such as Homegrown in Corralejo.
